Do you know Microsoft 365, Power Platform and Copilot well enough to help shape how an entire University uses them, not just support one team at a time? Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a full-time Lead M365 Adoption & Support Specialist to join the Information Services team providing a high-quality support service to all University staff and students.

This is a newly created role within Information Services to help the University make better use of Microsoft 365, Power Platform and AI technologies - turning new capabilities into practical improvements that save staff time, simplify processes and improve the overall user experience.

As Lead M365 Adoption and Support Specialist, you will own Birkbeck's Microsoft 365 adoption roadmap, helping to shape how the University adopts new Microsoft technologies, automation and AI capabilities - that covers Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot and Copilot Studio. This means deciding what gets rolled out, where, and in what order, working across both Professional Services and the Faculties.

You will sit with teams and watch how they actually work - you will also give practical advice on where a Power App or the built-in automation tools could make that work easier. Sometimes that means running a training session, or maybe one-to-one advice at someone's desk to help staff become more self-sufficient. Unlike consultancy work, you won't move on once a project ships. You will be able to see whether staff are genuinely benefiting from the new ways of working, refine your approach where needed, and help embed lasting change across the University. You will also mentor the User Services, and IT/AV Support teams so they can handle the day-to-day questions.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps and CoPilot
  • Have demonstrable experience developing or influencing technology adoption plans across multiple teams or departments
  • Communicate clearly with staff at every level, from first-time users to senior managers
  • Have a track record of running training and producing guidance people actually use
  • Be confident evaluating new features, including AI, and making the case for what's worth adopting

This opportunity would build on experience as: Microsoft 365 Change & Adoption Consultant, Digital Workplace Consultant, Power Platform & Copilot Lead, Microsoft 365 Product Owner, Digital Adoption Manager, Microsoft 365 Engineer, or similar roles.

If you're excited by the chance to build a new role from the ground up and help define how Microsoft 365, automation and AI are used across the University, we'd love to hear from you today.

Salary and benefits: Starting at £51,713 rising incrementally to salary £60,858 per annum. Grade 8 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance. Benefits of working at Birkbeck: a competitive salary and pension scheme, 31 days paid leave, flexible working arrangements, generous benefits in the HE sector, and being located in the heart of Bloomsbury, Euston, London.

Contract: Permanent, full-time, (35 hours a week), Monday to Friday on site, some evening shift work where necessary.

Closing date: Monday 7 September. Interview date: Tuesday 22 September 2026.

We welcome applicants from all sections of the community. The College is committed to improving the gender and cultural diversity of its workforce, holding a bronze Athena SWAN award and operating Disability Confident & Mindful Employer schemes.
