Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a full-time IT & AV Support Specialist to join the Information Services team providing a high-quality, responsive support service to all University staff and students.
Our IT support specialists at Birkbeck deliver front-line support for the deployment, maintenance and use of all computers and classroom-based audio‑visual equipment at the University. The team provides a high-quality, customer‑focused service for all students, academic and teaching staff in the Faculties, and professional services staff throughout the year.
As an IT & AV Support Specialist, you will be required to have a strong self‑motivated approach, work at pace, and deliver first‑time fixes for our users. The role is permanent and on‑site, full‑time (35 hours per week) with hours Monday to Friday 8am‑4pm or 12.30pm‑8.30pm and other times and/or weekends as required. The salary is £34,827 to £38,981 per annum, Grade 5 on the College's London Pay Scale, including a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.
Requirements:
- Significant previous experience providing second‑line support and working with specialist technical teams to provide solutions to users from diverse cultural backgrounds in demanding environments.
- Solid, demonstrable understanding of MS Windows and networking (gained in a corporate environment).
- Experience supporting audio‑visual equipment in a classroom environment; experience in higher education is an advantage.
This is a fully office‑based role. The successful candidate will be expected to work on‑site every working day.
