Birkbeck\’s Students’ Union is seeking a Communications & Social Media Assistant – this is an exciting opportunity to join us at this period of positive change.
You will be a current student (or recent Birkbeck graduate), who is committed to listening and engaging Birkbeck\’s student population, and have the skills, enthusiasm and creativity to support the Students’ Union communications team to build a positive student experience for everyone within Birkbeck\’s community.
In this role, you will ensure Birkbeck students are engaged and aware of the Union’s activity through the development and delivery of the Student Union’s social media strategy, including video content.
You\’ll expand on your communication skills and show off your creativity through engaging design and video content. You will also help support in creating other communications materials such as printed flyers and posters, written content for the website and scripts for the Student Union podcast.
You\’ll ensure students feel supported and heard by providing excellent customer service across the Students’ Union mailbox and social media channels – as well as leading on identifying emerging trends from student feedback to ensure the Students’ Union remains representative in their work, and aware of student needs.
To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for communication, creativity and copywriting, with a demonstratable ability to communicate clearly in different formats (e.g. written/verbal).
You will be able to demonstrate good organisation skills and have a proven track record of excellent customer service. You will also have great attention to detail, with the ability to identify key information.

Salary and benefits:
Actual £11,400 per year 0.4 FTE (pro-rated £28,502 FTE). Grade 3 on the College\’s London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
