Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an AV Technology Engineer to join us this Summer.
Birkbeck has invested in developing new teaching spaces, and upgrading our existing spaces, to enhance the student experience. In addition, office space has been rationalised into a number of agile workspace hubs, with meeting rooms and hot desks.
As AV Technology Engineer , you will ensure teaching staff can easily operate the classroom technology and all staff can utilise agile workspaces with minimal support.
You will also work with the AV Technology to ensure new and upgraded teaching workspaces are fit for purpose, including the specification, design, planning and management of third party installers/integrators to undertake quality AV installations across all Birkbeck buildings. You, and the team, will also be responsible for the maintenance and emergency repair of installed equipment.
You will work with Room Bookings and IT/AV teams to provide user support for commercial hire and external events as needed, and provide third line support for the IT/AV team on all aspects of AV technology, including creating and arranging training sessions, handling fault escalations, and dealing with third party suppliers to effect resolution.
You will also document technical issues, incident reports and maintain a snagging list – as well as identifying opportunities for development and continuous service improvement.

Contract
Open-ended, permanent contract. Full-time (35 hours per week, typically 8 AM to 4 PM Monday to Friday or equivalent number of hours to be agreed). Five days on-site per week is expected due to the hands-on nature of the role. Evening and weekend work required from time to time to support events or technology installation/remedial requirements outside of normal working and teaching hours. Time off in lieu is provided for any overtime hours.
Salary and benefits
£38,443 rising to £43,636 per annum, which is Grade 6 of the College\’s London Pay Scale. The salary quoted is on the College\’s London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
