Birkbeck, University of London, is looking to recruit a part-time, fixed-term Associate Lecturer to teach this Summer 2026. Joining Birkbeck's Business School, you would teach on the following module: Strategy in Practice.
Teaching 27 hours across nine in-person seminars Thursday 6-9pm, Summer Term. Your role will be to deliver teaching to Birkbeck students, in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully, and to undertake all related course administrative duties as required.
You will have knowledge and experience of delivering postgraduate modules related to Strategy in Practice/Strategic Management and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience). The module is delivered on Thursday evenings 6pm – 9pm in the Summer term (April to July).
Essential requirements- Specialist disciplinary knowledge in the field of strategic/change management or a related field
- Relevant teaching experience, ideally working with adult learners within the HE Postgraduate environment
- A good understanding of the needs of part-time adult learners and the ability to relate well to their individual needs and engage their interest and enthusiasm in the subject
- Hold a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
- Experience of marking coursework and exams and giving good feedback
- A good knowledge of IT including Moodle, Birkbeck’s Virtual Learning Environment.
- A postgraduate teaching qualification
- Industry experience.

Remuneration and ContractRemuneration: Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £69.68 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
