Associate Lecturer – Epidemiology (BSc Bioscience and Health/BSc Biomedicine)

Do you have a passion for teaching epidemiology? Join Birkbeck, University of London, as an Associate Lecturer delivering epidemiology classes to our undergraduate bioscience students this Autumn 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the 15-credit Level 6 module, Epidemiology (EPI), taught in the Autumn term (Oct-Dec) with classes 6-9 pm on Thursdays.
  • Prepare and deliver teaching materials, organise sessions, communicate with students and provide academic support.
  • Mark assessments and carry out other teaching-related duties, including examination duties.
  • Commit to undergraduate teaching within the biological and health sciences.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience of epidemiology, qualified to the corresponding level of the award (or equivalent professional/industry experience).
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and fostering academic growth.

Remuneration

Payment is based on an hourly rate of £69.68 per contact hour (inclusive of pro‑rated London Allowance and holiday pay), starting at Grade 7. The rate includes a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ of 2.5.

Contract

Fixed‑term, part‑time contract teaching.
