An excellent opportunity for a current or aspiring lecturer to join the psychology teaching team on the Cert (HE) and Accelerated Foundation Year programme.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to join the collaborative and supportive teaching team on the Certificate of Higher Education programmes. Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration, and assessment for the Understanding Applied Cognitive Psychology module, which is a Level 4 module offered as part of our Certificate of Higher Education and Accelerated Foundation Year programmes.

The module offers an introduction to cognitive psychology, focusing on major elements of cognition such as attention, perception, and memory, which will serve as the foundation for more detailed exploration later in their degree. The module is delivered on Thursday evenings, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, for 11 weeks from October to December 2023.

The minimum requirements for selection include:

  • A degree in Psychology.
  • Relevant teaching experience working with adult students within the HE sector.
  • A good understanding of the needs of part-time adult learners, with the ability to relate well to their individual needs and engage their interest and enthusiasm.
  • Experience of (or willingness to develop) a wide range of teaching and assessment methods.
  • Demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills across relevant contexts.
  • A working knowledge of IT, including Word, Excel, email, and experience of (or willingness to use) Moodle.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to engage in reflective practice.

Please note: candidates must demonstrate competence or significant potential in all areas.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Postgraduate degrees in relevant areas.
  • A teaching qualification.

The successful candidate will be required to teach all sessions on the module.
