Birkbeck, University of London invites applications for an Associate Lecturer to join the teaching team for the Certificate of Higher Education, BSc Foundation Year, and BA programmes, supporting the School of Psychological Sciences from Autumn 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver teaching for the "Understanding Research Methods for Psychology" (Level 4) module, including preparation, teaching, administration and assessment.
- Provide support for students throughout the module to ensure successful completion of their studies.
- Participate in course administrative duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Psychology.
- Relevant teaching experience with adult students in the Higher Education sector.
- Good understanding of the needs of full‑time and part‑time adult learners, and the ability to engage their interest and enthusiasm.
- Experience of or willingness to develop a wide range of teaching and assessment methods.
- Demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills across a range of relevant contexts.
- Working knowledge of IT, including Word, Excel, e‑mail and experience of or willingness to use Moodle and Teams.
Desirable:
- Postgraduate degree(s) in a relevant area.
- A teaching qualification.
Remuneration & Contract:
- Hourly rate starting at £69.68 per hour (inclusive of pro‑rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked, based on a starting point of Grade 7 and including a 2.5 multiplier for teaching duties.
- Contract type: Fixed‑term, part‑time (October to December 2026).
