Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to join the teaching team on the Certificate of Higher Education, BSc Foundation Year and BA Programmes and support the School of Psychological Sciences this Autumn 2026.
Key Duties
- Deliver teaching to Birkbeck students in the Understanding Applied Cognitive Psychology (Level 4) module.
- Prepare and teach 22 hours of teaching per module, scheduled Monday afternoon 2‐4pm or evenings 6‐8pm (indicate preference in application).
- Carry out module administration, assessment and marking.
- Support students to complete their studies successfully.
Eligibility Requirements
- A degree in Psychology.
- Relevant teaching experience with adult students within the HE sector.
- A good understanding of the needs of full and part‐time adult learners.
- Experience or willingness to develop a wide range of teaching and assessment methods.
- Demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- A working knowledge of IT including Word, Excel, e‐mail and experience or willingness to use Moodle & Teams.
Desirable
- Postgraduate degree(s) in a relevant area.
- A teaching qualification.
Remuneration
Hourly rate starting at £69.68 per hour inclusive of pro‐rated London Allowance and holiday pay. Rate reflects a 'Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier' of 2.5 covering preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and examining duties.
Contract
Fixed‐term contract October to December 2026, part‐time. Hourly rate depends on length of continuous service with the College.
