Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for a User Services Assistant for the Summer 2026 on a permanent, part-time contract.
Salary & Benefits
Pro‑rated £28,502 rising to £31,234 per annum (FTE, Grade 3 of the College's London Pay Scale). Benefits include a competitive salary, pension scheme, 31 days paid leave, and other generous benefits in the HE sector.
Contract Details
Open‑ended, permanent contract. Part‑time (12 or 18 hours per week) with rota options (Mon/Tue 6 pm–midnight or Thu/Fri/Sat 6 pm–midnight).
Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality IT and Library customer‑focused service at the service desk and respond to online and in‑person enquiries.
- Assist with students’ induction and orientation.
- Carry out communication and marketing activities, including social media and creation/maintenance of user guides.
- Support frontline enquiries about WiFi, printing, access to College platforms such as Moodle, resources, membership, library facilities and study environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a public‑facing role as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service to library users.
