Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a part-time IT & AV Support Specialist to join the Information Services team providing a high-quality, responsive support service to all University staff and students.
Salary and Pay
£17,413 rising to £19,490 per annum (0.5 FTE actual; FTE £34,827 to £38,981 per year). Grade 5 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.
Contract and Working Hours
Permanent, part-time contract (17.5 hours per week, 0.5 FTE). Monday to Friday, term-time 5 pm – 8:30 pm, out-of-term time 3:30 pm – 7 pm.
Responsibilities
- Deliver front-line support for the deployment, maintenance and use of all computers and classroom-based audio-visual equipment at the University.
- Provide second-line support and collaborate with specialist technical teams to deliver solutions to users, ensuring first-time fixes wherever possible.
- Support users from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds in highly demanding environments.
- Maintain a customer-focused service for students, academic and teaching staff, and services staff throughout the year.
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant previous experience of providing second-line support and working with specialist technical teams.
- Solid, demonstrable understanding of Microsoft Windows and Networking, ideally gained in a corporate environment.
- Experience supporting audio-visual equipment in a classroom environment and a background in higher education is an advantage.
- Strong self-motivated approach, ability to work at pace, and competence to deliver first-time fixes for Birkbeck users.
