- We are seeking a new
Head of School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication (CCC) .
The School brings together departments including English and Liberal Arts, Creative Writing, Film, Media and Journalism, Languages and Linguistics, and Performing Arts and Creative Industries.
The role will be based in Gordon Square and involves working with around 70 academic staff and 900 students.
Responsibilities
The Head of School will report to the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and will lead the School into the next phase of its development.
Key responsibilities include
- Develop and implement the School’s academic and research strategy in line with Birkbeck’s 2026-31 Corporate Strategy.
- Lead the School into REF2029, strengthening research output and reputation.
- Expand and enhance the School’s teaching and student experience, with particular focus on employability.
- Drive innovation in the use of creative spaces, including the Creative Practice Lab, and develop opportunities around AI, VR and the creative industries.
- Provide visionary leadership and support for academic staff, promoting a culture of research, teaching and student engagement.
