Associate Tutor – Psychology Study Skills (Certificate of Higher Education, BSc Foundation Year, BA Programmes) – School of Psychological Sciences – Birkbeck, University of London – Autumn 2026.
Contract & Remuneration
- Contract type: Fixed term, part‑time.
- Schedule: Saturday afternoons.
- Salary: £61.39 per hour inclusive of pro‑rata London Allowance and holiday pay.
- Multiplier: x2.5 covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other duties.
Responsibilities
Your role will be to support teaching, enable students to complete their studies successfully and undertake related course administrative duties as required. The main responsibilities include:
- Preparing and assisting with the Psychology Study Skills focused seminar.
- Teaching and providing feedback on formative assessment.
Session dates and times:
- Session 1: 10th October 2026 12‑3 pm
- Session 2: 31st October 2026 12‑3 pm
- Session 3: 5th December 2026 12‑3 pm
- Session 4: 23rd January 2027 12‑3 pm
- Session 5: 13th February 2027 12‑3 pm
- Session 6: 19th June 2027 12‑3 pm
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Psychology.
- Relevant teaching experience with adult students in the HE sector.
- Good understanding of the needs of full and part‑time adult learners and ability to relate to their individual needs, engaging interest and enthusiasm.
- Experience or willingness to develop a wide range of teaching and assessment methods.
- Demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills across a range of contexts.
- Working knowledge of IT including Word, Excel, e‑mail and willingness to use Moodle & Teams.
