Birkbeck, University of London, has an opportunity for an Associate Tutor to join the teaching team and support its Law School this coming Autumn 2026 and Spring 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Teach across the seven foundational law subjects, with a particular focus on Tort Law.
  • Deliver lectures on—Autumn term Wednesdays 6‑7:30 pm (in‑person) and Spring term Mondays 6‑7:30 pm (in‑person).
  • Prepare, teach, administer, assess, and mark as required for the course.

Qualifications

  • Specialist legal knowledge in Tort Law.
  • Qualified with an LLM (or related postgraduate degree) with either an LLB (or similar qualification covering the seven foundations of legal knowledge) or equivalent professional experience.

Remuneration

Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College, starting at £61.39 per hour inclusive of pro‑rata London Allowance and holiday pay for contact hours worked. This hourly rate includes a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ of 2.5 covering preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking, and other examining duties.
