Birdston Care Home, located in Kirkintilloch, just 15 minutes from Glasgow, offers high‑quality person‑centred care for frail elderly residents, including specialist dementia and respite care. As Senior Care Assistant you will lead our care team, coordinate shifts, and ensure residents receive the highest standard of care in a warm, supportive environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and coordinate the team to create a smooth operation and a positive atmosphere.
  • Assist residents with dressing, bathing, toileting, and mobility, prioritising dignity and independence.
  • Oversee the ordering, administration, and documentation of medication, maintaining accurate records.
  • Engage with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members for clear, compassionate communication.
  • Foster a team ethos, respect diversity, and promote a supportive environment for all staff.
  • Welcome visitors and show prospective residents and families around the home’s facilities.
  • Respond promptly to emergency call bells, assess situations, and provide or call for assistance as needed.
  • Write and update care plans, risk assessments, and case notes to reflect residents’ needs and wishes.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and e‑learning, taking responsibility for personal growth and development.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies, including COSHH, and escalate pertinent concerns to management.

What We’re Looking For:

  • SVQ/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care is essential. We also welcome applications from experienced Care Assistants actively working towards their Level 3.
  • Practical Medication Administration training with competencies is required.
  • Leadership skills: ability to motivate, develop and delegate tasks effectively while maintaining a supportive environment.
  • Compassionate personality with a sense of fun and a commitment to person‑centred care.
