We have an exciting opportunity for a Shopper Marketing Controller to join Birds Eye, part of Nomad Foods. In this role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the Shopper Marketing strategy to drive conversion across the Frozen category and into our iconic brands. You will lead high-impact shopper programmes that deliver strong ROI, while evolving our approach to retail activation and retail media in line with market advancements. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Category and external partners, you will ensure the shopper is at the heart of our plans, delivering standout retail execution today while shaping the future of Shopper Marketing for Birds Eye.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a clear Shopper Marketing strategy and vision that drives conversion and wins with shoppers.
  • Own and manage the Shopper Marketing investment plan, including responsibility for a £7m annual budget.
  • Act as a core business partner during Annual Planning, ensuring shopper insights are embedded across brand and customer plans.
  • Collaborate with senior marketing leaders to build shopper strategies that support brand campaigns and conversion at point of purchase.
  • Lead the evolution of Shopper Marketing capabilities, including Retail Media Networks and new activation opportunities.
  • Ensure brilliant execution in-store and across channels, proving and improving ROI on all investments.
  • Build tailored shopper programmes for key customers, aligning brand plans to unlock best-in-class retail execution.
  • Develop strong strategic, non-commercial relationships with key retail partners and negotiate effective Joint Marketing Plans.
  • Deliver post-campaign evaluation, sharing learnings to continuously improve future plans.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Shopper Marketing team, creating a culture of empowerment, accountability and innovation.
  • Act as capability lead for Ireland, ensuring consistency of approach, best practice sharing and talent development across the cluster.

About you

We’re looking for a Shopper Marketing leader with strong commercial acumen and the credibility to lead with authority in a complex, matrix organisation. You will be confident setting and holding agenda, even when faced with conflicting priorities, and comfortable influencing senior stakeholders across Sales and Marketing. You will bring deep shopper marketing expertise, a strong understanding of retailer dynamics, and an investor mindset when managing budgets and spend. Collaboration will be a key strength, alongside a passion for delivering results and building high-performing teams.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A proven track record within Shopper Marketing, ideally in FMCG.
  • Experience operating in a matrix organisation within the grocery retail environment.
  • Strong people leadership experience (minimum two direct reports previously).
  • Demonstrable budget ownership and ROI delivery.
  • Experience managing external agencies and partners.
  • The ability to translate shopper insight into practical, high-impact retail execution.
