At Birdie, we’re reimagining care for older adults. We’re building the technology that powers the future of home healthcare, empowering care teams with tools to deliver better, more dignified care, and enabling older people to thrive in their own homes for longer. Our all-in-one solution powers millions of care visits every month, equipping care providers with the tools they need to deliver exceptional, efficient care.
Your mission as a Senior Analytics Engineer at Birdie is to make our partner-facing analytics trustworthy, reliable, and genuinely useful. You will own the data models and dashboards that care providers depend on every day to understand how their teams are performing, turning complex care data into clear, accurate insight that drives better outcomes for older adults.
How you will contribute:
- Own the transformation layer: writing, testing, and maintaining dbt models that turn raw care data into reliable, well-documented data that the rest of the business and our partners can trust.
- Build and iterate on the Looker dashboards and LookML metrics that give care providers a clear view of their performance across Care Excellence, Operational Excellence, and Carer Experience.
- Take end-to-end ownership of one or more data domains, becoming the person who understands the data deeply enough to make good judgments about what our partners actually need to see.
- Proactively monitor and improve data quality, investigating issues before they reach partners, implementing testing standards that prevent regressions, and treating correctness as non-negotiable.
- Work closely with product managers, customer success, and other internal stakeholders to understand what metrics matter and why, building enough domain knowledge to challenge requirements as well as deliver them.
You’ll thrive here if:
- You’ve got experience writing production-quality SQL and dbt models with a genuine understanding of testing strategies, incremental modelling, and documentation.
- You’ve built dashboards and metrics in Looker (or a comparable BI tool) and understand what it takes to make a metric trustworthy enough for an external customer to rely on.
- You’ve owned a data domain end-to-end in a production environment, making decisions about grain, relationships, and naming without needing to be directed at every step.
- You’re curious about the problems your work is solving, not just the technical implementation. You seek out context from stakeholders rather than waiting for a full brief.
- You could explain a metric definition or a data quality issue to a care manager with no data background, and you don’t find that frustrating - you find it important!
- You’re comfortable operating in a small, fast-moving team where priorities shift and ambiguity is the norm. You deliver without needing close management and raise blockers early rather than quietly waiting for clarity.
- You’re motivated by work that has a direct impact on people's lives. The data you build here is used by professionals caring for older adults, and that matters to you.
