This is a pivotal moment for business development technology in our industry, and for Bird & Bird. As we continue to grow and evolve our BD function, we are investing in the tools, systems and enablement capability that will allow both our lawyers and MBD teams to work more effectively and win more business. The Sales Enablement Technology Manager is a new role that sits at the heart of this ambition. Rather than owning a single platform, you will take a solutions‑first view of our entire BD technology ecosystem, identifying where technology can unlock commercial value and ensuring those tools are embedded effectively across the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Enablement
    • Define and deliver a sales enablement solution that supports lawyers as direct users, enabling them to identify opportunities, manage relationships and progress pursuits more effectively.
    • Own delivery and adoption of the chosen solution, working with stakeholders across the firm to ensure it is embedded into day‑to‑day BD activity.
    • Build and maintain playbooks for BD, translating best practice into scalable, repeatable frameworks that support both lawyers and MBD professionals.
  • Platform Development & Integration
    • Lead the ongoing development and optimisation of our CRM as the firm’s core contact management and client intelligence platform.
    • Expand and enhance the functionality of our internal Sales App to ensure it meets the needs of its users and connects effectively with adjacent systems.
    • Oversee our relationship intelligence tool, driving adoption and ensuring data flows are configured to deliver actionable insight.
    • Together with IT colleagues, manage system integrations, upgrades and data quality across the BD tech ecosystem.
  • Adoption, Training & Change Management
    • Design and deliver user training programmes, onboarding materials and ongoing support to maximise adoption across lawyer and MBD user groups.
    • Champion behavioural change where needed, using data, case studies and stakeholder engagement to build buy‑in.
    • Monitor and report on KPIs including adoption rates, data quality and commercial outcomes, communicating progress clearly to senior stakeholders.
    • Gather and respond to user feedback to continuously improve the experience and effectiveness of BD technology across the firm.
  • Team Leadership
    • Foster a collaborative, high‑standards culture within the team and across the wider Digital function.
    • Work closely with our CRM/BD Tech team and colleagues across MBD, Digital, IT and the business to deliver joined‑up outcomes.
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Ensure GDPR compliance across all BD technology platforms and data processing activities.
    • Maintain appropriate documentation, audit trails and data governance standards in line with firm policy.

Benefits

We provide comprehensive support for our colleagues’ health and wellbeing, including private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, and regular health assessments. In addition, we offer a range of lifestyle benefits designed to help our team live their best lives, such as a cycle‑to‑work scheme, access to online GP appointments, discounted gym memberships, and an electric vehicle scheme.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in a BD/Sales technology, CRM or sales enablement role, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Broad familiarity with the BD and sales technology landscape, with the ability to evaluate tools critically and make evidence‑based recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of how BD and client development works in a law firm or similar professional services context.
  • Proven experience managing technology implementations, including stakeholder engagement, change management and user adoption.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical audiences, including partners and senior leadership.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.

Desirable

  • Hands‑on experience with one or more: Intapp CRM, Introhive, Passle, Legora, Nexl or similar BD or legal tech platforms.
  • Experience building or implementing sales playbooks or enablement frameworks.
  • Familiarity with AI‑powered tools in a BD or legal context.

Personal Qualities

  • Curious and proactive, with a genuine interest in how technology can change the way professionals work.
  • Commercially minded, with an instinct for how BD tools translate into business outcomes.
  • A pragmatic problem‑solver who can operate effectively in a complex, consensus‑driven environment.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to build structure and momentum where things are still taking shape.
  • Collaborative and likable, with the credibility to influence partners and senior stakeholders.
