Bird and Bird are looking for a Project Manager to join the Strategy & Transformation team. The initial focus of this role will be to work with the HR department following the recent implementation of SAP SuccessFactors (known internally as PeopleConnect). Phase one of our PeopleConnect project went live in September 2025 with Employee Central, Time Off and Onboarding modules, across our offices in 23 countries. The next phase will involve the design and implementation of additional modules (initially these will be Recruiting and Performance & Goals) as well as focusing on embedding and enhancing phase one functionality and new ways of working.
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, organising, and overseeing the future phased modules as well as completion of existing incidents and change requests. The role will ensure that the project delivers defined outcomes for PeopleConnect, supports change management activities and ensures the project is kept on time, on budget, and within scope. You will provide updates and reports to the leadership team and key stakeholders.
This role will work closely with workstream leads, HR teams, the IT team, key stakeholders, and our external support partner to ensure we meet business requirements and help deliver the HR system's roadmap. Once the PeopleConnect project is completed, this role will work on other firmwide strategic projects such as technology enabled change, process transformation or otherwise. This role will be part of a small but growing team led by the firm's Chief Operating Officer. The team works closely and collaboratively across all departments at the firm and on some of the key initiatives happening at Bird & Bird.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Project Manager will plan and ensure that all workstreams are delivering on time across the agreed roadmap for continued optimisation of the existing SuccessFactors platform. You will work closely with our HR Systems team and our SAP partner who are providing expert technical support. Your responsibilities include:
- Develop and own a detailed project plan.
- Lead the definition of change strategies and change interventions to ensure full adoption and outcomes.
- Support resource planning.
- Manage the project plan, status updates, risk tracker, change requests and RAID logs.
- Coordinate and manage project tasks and resources across multiple workstreams.
- Coordinate reoccurring project meetings.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Prepare and present progress on budget, status, risks, issues and escalate to Leadership Team where required.
- Partner effectively with third-party vendors, ensuring project milestones are met.
Experience delivering technology implementation projects. Experience of a Tier 1 HR system projects such as SuccessFactors would be advantageous. Excellent full life-cycle project management skills, including the ability to plan, organise, and prioritise multiple workstreams simultaneously. Experience of managing and building relationships with internal stakeholders, business services teams and external software and service providers. A supportive collaborator. Strong problem-solving skills, with initiative-taking, solution-orientated mindset. Experience with owning and managing project management software, e.g. Smartsheet. Ability to provide timely reports and updates in a clear and concise way. Use Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and leadership packs. Flexibility with time zones.
