We have an exciting opportunity for a BI Developer to join our growing team in London. Working within the Data Architecture & Insights team, this role supports the delivery of business intelligence and analytics solutions aligned to the firm's global data strategy. The team designs, builds and maintains data and analytics capabilities across the business, working in close partnership with Finance, IT and other business services teams to enable insight, strengthen decision-making and help colleagues make effective use of data.

Bird & Bird's Technology Team mission is to support the strong technology focus of the Firm, provide modern technology to support the business and creative solutions for our clients. In London, the team comprises 50 technology staff covering a broad range of technologies and specialisms including business architecture, business solutions, project and programme management, modern infrastructure and they are all primarily focused on international projects working alongside colleagues in our 33 offices. Whether it's analysing new solutions, driving innovation, developing client solutions or providing a first class, high availability infrastructure and support we are a diverse, energised group focused on service and contributing to both the internal and external use of technologies. We work extensively across the network and seek candidates who are keen to engage internationally and make wider contributions both internally and externally than just IT service and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver data and analytics initiatives, working with stakeholders to agree priorities, timescales and outcomes
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business to understand needs and translate them into clear, well-designed solutions
  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines and models that support reporting, analytics and AI-enabled use cases
  • Create accessible, business-focused insights that support informed commercial and operational decisions
  • Approach problem-solving thoughtfully, working both independently and alongside others in a collaborative team environment
  • Share and encourage good practice in data, analytics and reporting, supporting consistency and quality
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to help the team continuously improve how data and analytics are used across the firm

What you'll bring

  • A sound understanding of accounting and/or statistical principles, with an interest in how these can support business insight
  • Confidence explaining complex topics in a clear and inclusive way to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • A good grasp of data modelling concepts and how they contribute to effective analytics
  • Genuine enthusiasm for data and the value it can create for people and organisations
  • Curiosity about new technologies and an openness to learning and trying new approaches

Your technical skills

  • Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and DAX
  • SQL, including working with relational data structures
  • Power Apps and Power Automate
  • Preparing and structuring data for use with AI and advanced analytics tools
