An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Legal Project Manager to join our growing team that comprises of global matter management specialists. The Role of the Junior Legal Project Manager will sit within the Legal Project Delivery function as part of our London office and will support the team in driving the delivery of the team's strategy. It is a dynamic role that will provide an opportunity to work with key stakeholders within the firm as well as directly with our clients. The primary focus of this role will be on the legal project management service line but with some crossover with the process optimisation team, as well as providing translation support as required. The successful candidate will work as part of a high-performance team, demonstrating communication and coordination skills and the ability to effectively multi-task and manage stakeholder expectations.
Bird & Bird's Global Legal Project Delivery team comprises qualified legal project managers and process design specialists who are integrated into our matter delivery teams to support colleagues and clients across our 32 offices to ensure we are delivering legal matters in the most efficient way possible.
Responsibilities- Manage multi-jurisdictional legal matters across a range of practice areas.
- Support legal project managers to facilitate efficient delivery of legal services to clients.
- Deliver high-level administration and coordination support to the LPD and legal team as required.
- Act as an advocate for implementing legal project delivery principles within the Bird & Bird framework.
- Produce data driven reports to inform clients and the Bird & Bird matter team as appropriate.
- Track budget vs actuals on live client matters and flag budget variances with the Bird & Bird matter team, with support from the finance team.
- Research information on requests for proposals, pitches, and other ad hoc queries.
- Actively participate in team meetings to encourage sharing of ideas and promote a collaborative working environment.
- Collaborate and build strong working relationships with support teams across the firm to proactively resolve issues and prevent risks becoming issues.
- Own and support the maintenance of project documents (e.g. project playbooks, reporting templates).
- Support the adoption of legal technology platforms as appropriate, by becoming a 'super user' to assist fee earners around the firm with any queries relating to its use.
- Mentor, support and coach more junior members of the team.
- A 'can do', flexible approach to workload and changing priorities.
- Proficiency in applying project management methodology to projects, with the ability to adapt strategies as necessary to meet project requirements.
- Confidence to communicate with fee earners and support teams at all levels (both written and verbal).
- Excellent coordination skills and the ability to juggle multiple competing tasks across different service lines.
- A strong understanding of legal project management, with an ability to articulate this to stakeholders.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- A basic knowledge of legal technology.
- A recognised project management qualification is desirable (not essential).
