Birchwood Group is a forward-looking company with retail stores, workshops and facilities based across the south coast of Sussex and Hampshire. We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join our busy Finance Department at our head office, within the Ford Dealership in Eastbourne.
You will provide general support to the Finance Department and particular the Management Accountants, to ensure monthly deadlines are adhered to and as noted below, to have a working knowledge of a wide variety of jobs within the Finance Department to enable normal working to be continued during holiday and sickness periods.
To comply with and maintain company policies, Health and Safety, accounting standards and procedures relating to quality and customer care within your department.
Be a team player, supporting your colleagues in the accounts department, also to be able to work independently using you own initiative.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintaining the accounts ensuring that all payments are allocated
- Taking responsibility to keep the ledger clean and up to date
- Daily processing of BGCs to the DMS system
- Daily reconciliation of credit cards
- Process the weekly cash banking and keep up to date with cash accounts
- Publish monthly debtor statements
- Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience working in Accounts is essential
- Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational and time management skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative without constant supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to create relationships at all levels
- Excellent IT skills and technological skills
Working Hours: 37.5hrs, Monday to Friday – 09:00 to 17:30

Salary: £25,350 per annum
