Birchwell Associates are working with a leading organisation to recruit a skilled Data Centre Engineer for their Farnborough-based facility. This is a hands-on role within a secure, high-availability environment, supporting both private and public sector clients across industries such as finance, defence, IT security, and engineering.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure, delivering technical support, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the data centre. This is a client-facing position, requiring strong technical ability alongside excellent communication and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor and manage the data centre environment (on-site and remotely), responding promptly to alerts and incidents.

Handle requests for change, tickets, and inbound support queries via the engineering service desk.

Install and maintain server racks, structured cabling, and associated hardware.

Provide responsive remote hands support for live client environments within agreed SLAs.

Manage cross-connect cabling and follow client patching requirements.

Support logistics tasks including handling deliveries, maintaining inventories, and general site operations.

Carry out ad hoc duties relevant to data centre activity.

Previous experience in a data centre environment with strong knowledge of infrastructure, cabling, and hardware installation.
