Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the care team in the home to ensure that residents are supported to live in a safe and caring and stimulating environment.
  • Conduct and record supervisions and appraisals with care team, setting and reviewing suitable objectives for development.
  • Support with the ongoing development of the care team, including acting as a mentor to home employed care staff and students on placement.
  • Contribute fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly.
  • Attend relevant staff meetings and training as required.
  • Collaborate with the care team to plan and deliver resident care.
  • Administer, receive and manage medications for residents in accordance with company policy and Regulations.
  • Support the management team in implementing agreed clinical developments.
  • Ensure that care is delivered in line with regulatory care standards and legislation.
  • Act as a contact for residents and relatives in regard to care needs.
  • Monitor standards of care delivered by care staff via observation and direct involvement, ensuring that all residents receive quality personal care and that care plans are fully maintained.
  • Ensure that safe systems of work are used across the range of care tasks and in particular moving and handling of residents, by assessing risks and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of residents, visitors and staff.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to concerns such as safeguarding incidents, and report to nurse/management as soon as possible.
  • Support the Home Manager with assessing prospective residents as needed.
  • Support the Home Manager in ensuring compliance with health and safety measures related to residents' care and comfort.
  • Liaise with nursing team and other healthcare professionals to support residents with their health and care needs.
  • Act courteously toward residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident and ensuring that effective communication is maintained.
  • Monitor the wellbeing of each resident, being aware of any change impacting on care and care plans, ensuring that new needs are met, and written records are amended to reflect any variation.
  • Promote and support positive risk taking for residents.
Qualifications
  • Minimum NVQ3 in Healthcare or equivalent qualification.
  • Leadership qualification.
  • Proven experience of leading a care team.
  • Passion for elderly/dementia care, with a hands-on approach.
  • Competent with basic computer software, such as Word, web based systems etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritise workload.
  • Able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities.
