Opportunity for a Tax Fixed Share Partner to join a highly regarded commercial law firm in London. The firm is a long-established Legal 500 ranked law firm with a strong reputation across a range of sectors including real estate, media, music, sport, retail, hospitality, leisure and technology. The firm acts for an impressive client base ranging from major institutions and recognised brands through to SMEs, entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals. Despite its high-quality work and market reputation, the firm is known for maintaining a collaborative, down-to-earth and entrepreneurial culture.

The firm is seeking a Partner to establish and lead its tax offering, working closely alongside highly regarded Partners within their Real Estate and Corporate teams. This represents a rare opportunity to join a successful and growing firm at a strategic level, building a dedicated tax practice while benefiting from an existing flow of work generated by established Real Estate and Corporate teams. The new hire will act as Head of Tax, providing specialist advice to both clients and colleagues across a broad range of matters, while helping to shape and develop the firm's long-term tax capability.

The role will involve:

  • Advising on property tax matters including VAT, TOGCs, the Capital Goods Scheme, SDLT and capital allowances
  • Supporting the Corporate team on corporation tax, capital gains tax and wider corporate tax issues
  • Advising on tax aspects of acquisitions, disposals, developments, financing transactions and corporate deals
  • Drafting and negotiating tax provisions within transactional documentation
  • Developing and leading the firm's tax offering as part of its long-term growth strategy

Required:

  • UK qualified Solicitor with minimum 8 years’ PQE (Senior Tax Lawyer or existing Tax Partner)
  • Strong technical expertise across property tax matters including VAT and SDLT
  • Experience advising on corporate tax issues and transactional matters
  • Demonstrable business development experience and an existing client following, ideally around £450,000, although this is flexible for the right individual
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and desire to play a key role in the growth of a developing practice area
