The Firm
Our client is a top 100, well-established City law firm with a strong reputation across a broad range of practice areas. With continued growth and a collaborative culture, the firm places a strong emphasis on effective risk management and regulatory compliance. The firm is now seeking to appoint a Risk & Compliance Lawyer to join its Risk & Compliance team.
The Opportunity
This is a permanent role within the Risk & Compliance function, offering firm-wide exposure to a broad range of regulatory and risk matters. Working closely with the Risk & Compliance Director (COLP), the Risk & Compliance Lawyer will play a key role in supporting Partners, fee earners, and business services teams on day-to-day risk and compliance issues.
- Providing front-line advice on legal and regulatory risk matters
- Advising on SRA Principles, Code of Conduct, and professional ethics
- Supporting complaints handling and COLP responsibilities
- Assisting with professional indemnity insurance matters
- Drafting, reviewing, and maintaining risk and compliance policies and registers
- Supporting internal and external risk and compliance audits
- Maintaining external accreditations (e.g. Lexcel, CQS)
- Delivering compliance training and supporting new joiner inductions
- Monitoring regulatory developments and updating policies accordingly
- Supporting data protection enquiries and breach management
- Managing SRA records and practising certificate renewals
- Reviewing and advising on engagement terms and commercial contracts
- Deputising for the Risk & Compliance Director as required
- Supporting firm-wide risk and compliance projects
- Undertaking ad hoc duties as required
Requirements
Qualified solicitor with experience in risk and compliance within a law firm, or significant exposure in a fee-earning role (5+ PQE)
Strong knowledge of SRA Principles and Code of Conduct
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Able to manage workload independently in a fast-paced environment
