We are delighted to be working on behalf of one of our key clients who are looking to appoint an ESG & Climate Risk Manager. They are fully committed to driving sustainable practices and meeting regulatory requirements on climate risk and ESG performance, and this role is critical in supporting their mission to integrate sustainability into business strategy and operations.

Job Purpose

To lead ESG and climate risk initiatives, ensuring compliance with UK and European regulations, supporting decarbonisation targets, and embedding sustainability into business processes for their UK operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and run the ESG Steering Group, preparing agendas and presenting ESG and climate risk performance to senior stakeholders.
  • Act as the first line of defence for climate risk, supporting scenario analysis and ICAAP/ILAAP modelling for transition and physical risks.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret ESG data across operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SECR and CSRD reporting requirements.
  • Report Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions using carbon management tools and assist parent companies in meeting their carbon targets.
  • Conduct horizon scanning for future regulatory requirements (UK SRS S1/S2, CP10/25, anti-greenwashing legislation).
  • Deliver internal ESG training programmes such as Carbon Literacy and Climate Fresk.
  • Support ad hoc sustainability queries, tenders, and supplier assessments for ESG compliance.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Degree in finance, data, or sustainability-related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in sustainability or climate risk analysis.
  • Knowledge of decarbonisation targets and frameworks (e.g., SBTi).
  • Experience developing and implementing ESG strategies.
  • Understanding of UK climate regulations (PRA SS3am IFRS S1/S2) and ESG frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD).
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage cross-functional projects.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation to work in their Hertfordshire Head office 2 days a week.
