We are looking for a caring, committed, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at Birch Hill Primary School. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children—supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing across the school community. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils thrive both academically and socially in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences for pupils.
  • Work with small groups or individual children to reinforce learning and support progress.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and day‑to‑day routines.
  • Work flexibly across different classes and year groups, supporting teachers and pupils to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster strong, nurturing relationships with children, encouraging their independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.

  • Enthusiastic, patient, and dedicated to supporting children’s learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with children and staff.

  • Can show initiative and a proactive approach to supporting learning and wellbeing.

  • Support the emotional and social development of children.

  • Understand and follow safeguarding, health and safety, and first aid procedures.
