Responsibilities:

  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
  • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods

  • Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
