About this role
This role sits within our Building Performance and Resilience team which is part of our Sustainable Transition (Delivery) group. We work with market leaders in commercial real estate to develop innovative global carbon reduction strategies. Our clients are building owners, real estate investors and developers and our Building Performance and Resilience service acts on clients’ strategic sustainability aspirations, breaking them down into implementable carbon/energy/adaptation action plans and projects.
As a Senior Consultant, you bring experienced capability and leadership to the technical management and delivery of complex energy management and building optimisation projects for Bip.Verco’s clients. You work directly with clients, largely in Real Estate, to turn their aims into a reality through site audits, monitoring and proposing short-term data solutions to optimise efficiency. By engaging with a wide range of key stakeholders on a day‑to‑day basis, you’re able to impact the management of sustainability risks and realise opportunities.
As part of our Building Performance and Resilience team, you contribute to and manage projects that cover the following services:
- Readiness assessment of client organisations to deliver sustainable savings.
- Identifying and prioritising the most cost‑effective opportunities, including technological, behavioural and HVAC optimisation initiatives.
- Supporting and building compelling business cases for achieving staged and pragmatic energy and cost reduction.
- Delivering services and opportunities, with a guaranteed outcome and savings verified.
Although you are part of the Building Performance and Resilience team, you will have opportunities to work on other projects within our wider real estate and commercial/industrial teams, giving you the runway to develop as well as share your knowledge. Although this role is designated to one team, there will be opportunities to work across the company on a range of projects and different clients.
How you contribute
- Project management: You manage a range of building optimisation and energy reduction projects with a variety of clients including real estate sites and ensure successful delivery to the client on time, to quality and within an agreed budget.
- Technical input: You will provide expertise and technical input to projects, including data analytics, modelling and strategic insights as required for the delivery of our range of services.
- Business development and proposal writing: You are actively engaged in developing business, by increasing the value of existing accounts or working on targeted business development activities, in line with the Sector Sales leads, including writing proposals and delivering technical webinars.
- Client management: You maintain strong relationships with existing clients and build lasting relationships with new clients with the expectation of continuing and, where possible, increasing revenues from key accounts.
- Operational: You provide timely responses to operational needs including invoicing, reviews, project management information, time‑sheeting, health & safety, etc.
- Environmental: You contribute to Bip.Verco’s sustainability targets and internal CSR team objectives when required.

Education, qualifications & training
- Essential: Degree (or equivalent) in engineering
- Desirable: Masters or relevant post‑graduate qualification, Chartered Engineer status, Member of professional institutions e.g. CIBSE
Employment experience
- Essential: Managing complex or multi‑client projects, Energy management and auditing including onsite deep dive assessments, Development of energy and carbon reduction pathways, Key account management and new business development, Managing bids and delivery of proposals
- Desirable: Contributing to new business development, Facilitating and presenting at workshops/seminars
Knowledge & understanding
- Essential: Good technical knowledge of energy use in buildings including Boilers, HVAC, lighting, motors and drives, building management systems, Metering, monitoring & targeting, including energy data analysis, Building‑integrated renewable energy, Mandatory and non‑mandatory policies and standards relating to energy in buildings, such as CRREM, NABERS, the Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, ESOS, and EPCs
- Desirable: Technology design & implementation, Virtual energy management, Measurement & verification, Electrical infrastructure & systems, DSR and flexibility, Renewable energy technology design and implementation
