Medical Device Engineering & Manufacturing Consultant
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Product Development Generalist with a strong foundation in medical device innovation to lead early-stage development from concept through to prototyping. This is a non-hands-on, cross-functional leadership role focused on opportunity assessment, concept generation, and technology validation. The ideal candidate brings a biodesign-oriented mindset, excels in cross-disciplinary collaboration, and thrives at the intersection of engineering, clinical needs, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the identification, exploration, and evaluation of unmet clinical needs and novel medical device concepts.
- Lead technology scouting, feasibility assessments, and early-stage prototyping strategy.
- Translate clinical and business insights into actionable product concepts.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, clinical, regulatory, and commercial teams to shape product vision and early development pathways.
- Guide and influence multidisciplinary teams without direct management authority.
- Serve as a thought leader in innovation strategy and early product definition.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Strong track record of success in the medical device industry, ideally across multiple product lifecycles.
- Demonstrated ability to assess new technologies, guide innovation processes, and translate ideas into validated concepts.
- Experience working in or with early-stage innovation groups, incubators, or biodesign teams.

- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and rapidly evolving project scopes.
