We are currently looking for an R&D Scientist to join a leading Pharmaceutical company in Reading. It is a 12 month contract with high likelihood of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct product functional analysis (e.g., binding, kinetics, enzymatic, and cell-based assays).
- Perform analytical methods such as ELISA, Octet, Biacore, enzymatic assays, and cell-based MoA studies.
- Design and execute experiments, analyse data, and present findings.
- Maintain accurate experimental records and generate high-quality reports/presentations.
- Support general lab tasks, stock management, and administrative duties.
Typical Task Allocation
- 20%: Experiment planning & electronic lab notebook entries
- 60%: Analytical development or sample analysis
- 15%: Lab maintenance, stocktaking, ordering
- 5%: Admin (timesheets, meetings, etc.)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum: BSc in Biochemistry, Biology, or related field
- Preferred: MSc or higher in similar disciplines
Experience & Skills
- Prior lab experience in analytical techniques
- Hands-on expertise in at least one of: Octet, Biacore, enzymatic assays, cell culture
- Familiarity with:
- Aseptic techniques (cell culture)
- Binding assays
- Protein chemistry
- Chromatography (e.g., Protein A, SEC)
