We are currently looking for an R&D Scientist to join a leading Pharmaceutical company in Reading. It's a 12 month contract with high likelihood of extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct product functional analysis (e.g., binding, kinetics, enzymatic, and cell-based assays).
  • Perform analytical methods such as ELISA, Octet, Biacore, enzymatic assays, and cell-based MoA studies.
  • Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and present findings.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and generate high-quality reports/presentations.
  • Support general lab tasks, stock management, and administrative duties.

Typical Task Allocation

  • 20%: Experiment planning & electronic lab notebook entries
  • 60%: Analytical development or sample analysis
  • 15%: Lab maintenance, stocktaking, ordering
  • 5%: Admin (timesheets, meetings, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum: BSc in Biochemistry, Biology, or related field
  • Preferred: MSc or higher in similar disciplines

Experience & Skills

  • Prior lab experience in analytical techniques
  • Hands-on expertise in at least one of: Octet, Biacore, enzymatic assays, cell culture
  • Familiarity with:
  • Aseptic techniques (cell culture)
  • Binding assays
  • Protein chemistry
  • Chromatography (e.g., Protein A, SEC)
  • Strong analytical thinking, communication, and team collaboration
  • Project management and adaptability
