BioTalent is exclusively supporting a global biopharmaceutical organisation that is seeking an experienced Medical Lead Consultant to provide medical oversight across both Clinical Development and Pharmacovigilance/Safety activities. This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to influence programmes across the full product lifecycle, working on innovative biologic and biosimilar products spanning multiple therapeutic areas.
The successful consultant will work closely with cross functional stakeholders across Clinical Development, Drug Safety, Regulatory Affairs, and Pharmacovigilance, providing strategic and operational medical leadership.
The Opportunity
This position combines post marketing safety responsibilities with hands on clinical development support and medical monitoring activities. A significant focus will be supporting ongoing pharmacovigilance initiatives, including the implementation and optimisation of modern safety systems, while also providing medical oversight for global clinical development programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide medical leadership and expertise across the full product lifecycle
- Act as medical reviewer for Individual Case Safety Reports (ICSRs)
- Lead and contribute to signal detection, signal evaluation, aggregate safety reports, and benefit-risk assessments
- Partner closely with Pharmacovigilance teams to ensure robust patient safety oversight
- Serve as Medical Monitor for clinical studies, including outsourced CRO managed trials
- Review and interpret clinical data to support programme decision making
- Contribute to the preparation and review of clinical trial documentation
- Support scientific publications and medical communications activities
- Provide medical input into regulatory authority interactions where required
- Ensure compliance with GCP and GVP requirements
- Collaborate with global Clinical Development teams and external stakeholders
Ideal Background
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent)
- Strong experience within Clinical Development and/or Pharmacovigilance
- Prior experience serving as a Medical Monitor or Medical Lead within clinical trials
- Expertise reviewing safety data, ICSRs, aggregate reports, signal detection, and benefit-risk evaluations
- Experience supporting biologics, biosimilars, or complex pharmaceutical products is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of GCP and GVP regulations
- Ability to work effectively within global, cross functional teams
- Consultancy or contractor experience is advantageous
