Biotalent are collaborating with a clinical stage biotech company in Cambridge. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist to join their R&D team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, ideally with experience in microbiome research. This role will focus on drug discovery, developing molecular and microbiology assays for the characterisation of novel bacteria.
To note this is a lab based role and significant presence in the office is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute research projects focused on microbiology and microbiome-related drug discovery.
- Design and perform experiments using molecular biology techniques, including qPCR.
- Analyze and interpret data, and present findings to the team and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance research projects and contribute to the development of new therapies.
- Stay current with the latest scientific literature and advancements in the field of microbiology and the microbiome.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior scientists and research associates.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related field with extensive experience in postdoctoral or industry experience.
- Proven expertise in microbiology and microbiome research.
- Extensive experience with molecular biology techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience in drug discovery and development is highly desirable.
