Turn complex science into compelling opportunities.

At Biosynth, science is at the heart of everything we do. We work with pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life science organisations around the world to develop and manufacture complex chemical and biochemical products β€” helping our customers turn innovative ideas into real-world products.

We're now looking for a Proposal Writer to join our Complex Chemicals Division and become a key link between our customers, commercial teams and scientific experts.

If you have a strong background in organic chemistry, enjoy writing and communicating complex scientific information, and are looking for a role where your scientific expertise can have a direct commercial impact, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Why this role?

This isn't simply a role where you'll be writing proposals from a template.

You'll take ownership of exciting customer projects from the initial RFP through to final approval, working alongside Business Development, technical experts and senior leaders to develop proposals that are technically credible, commercially attractive and tailored to each customer's needs.

You'll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of a project β€” from understanding the science and assessing technical feasibility, through to costing, commercial strategy and presenting the final proposal.

It's a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys science but also wants to understand the commercial side of the business.

What you'll be doing

  • Review new customer RFPs and work with our technical experts to assess technical fit and feasibility.
  • Join customer-facing calls alongside our Business Development teams to understand the customer's needs, challenges and expectations.
  • Translate complex customer requirements and technical information into clear, professional and compelling proposals.
  • Work with site technical leads to develop project costs for new RFPs, resupply batches and change orders.
  • Develop the technical approach and pricing strategy for each proposal.
  • Take ownership of proposals from the initial technical review through to final leadership approval, ensuring all required information is brought together.
  • Work closely with Business Development and technical teams to develop appropriate commercial and cost strategies.
  • Coordinate multiple stakeholders throughout the proposal process, keeping everyone aligned on progress, deadlines and outstanding information.
  • Act as the central point of contact driving proposals forward and ensuring they are completed to a high standard and within agreed timelines.
  • Manage proposal and quotation workflows using Biosynth's internal systems.
  • Work with management to review completed projects and use this information to continually improve the accuracy and profitability of future proposals.

What will make you successful?

We're looking for someone who can combine scientific expertise with commercial awareness, excellent communication and outstanding attention to detail.

You may be an experienced scientific writer, a scientist looking to move into a more commercially focused position, or someone who has already gained experience within a pharmaceutical, CDMO or related environment.

You'll ideally bring:

  • A PhD or MSc in Organic Chemistry.
  • Experience in scientific, technical or chemical writing, ideally within a CDMO, pharmaceutical company or similar environment.
  • Experience in process chemistry and/or biocatalysis would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
  • The ability to take complex scientific information and communicate it clearly and effectively to different audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence communicating with and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial curiosity and an interest in understanding the business impact of technical decisions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach.
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple proposals and competing deadlines.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 skills and confidence learning and using new systems.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships across technical, commercial and leadership teams.

A role with real impact

As a Proposal Writer, you'll have a direct influence on the projects and opportunities Biosynth pursues.

You'll be helping our customers understand what we can deliver, how we can deliver it and why Biosynth is the right partner for their project.

You'll work with talented scientists and commercial professionals, gain insight into a wide range of customer projects and develop an understanding of both the scientific and commercial drivers behind a successful CDMO business.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to broaden your career beyond traditional laboratory or research-based work while continuing to use your scientific expertise every day.

We take great pride in our extensive range of chemical and biochemical products, but we know that our success comes down to our people.

Biosynth is an international life sciences reagents, custom synthesis and manufacturing services company headquartered in Staad, Switzerland. We work with pharmaceutical, life science and diagnostic organisations around the world, with facilities across three continents and a global distribution network.

We are scientists working with scientists, combining scientific expertise, manufacturing capabilities and customer partnership to help solve some of the challenges facing the life sciences industry.

If you're ready to take your scientific expertise into a role where science, commercial strategy and customer relationships come together, we'd love to hear from you.
