Main Purpose of the Job
This position will be responsible for providing direct support to the Diagnostics business unit. Although based in Compton, the role will also support our sites in the US (Gardner & Louisville), Lelystad (Netherlands), Dublin (Ireland) and Staad (Switzerland). The role will be the key point of contact for the commercial & operational teams of the division. The person will be instrumental in the strategic vision of our Diagnostics business unit and support their day-to-day business matters as well as long term projects.
Main accountabilities and responsibilities
- Establishing a strong working relationship with the business unit commercial and operational teams.
- Instigating a regular finance reporting & analysis cadence.
- Developing a rigorous understanding of customer and product profitability.
- Working with the financial accounting and commercial teams to provide month-end reporting packages including in-depth understanding of performance drivers and KPIs.
- Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends, analyse variances and support gap closing measures.
- Implement and lead the regular forecasting/budget cycle for the Life Sciences business unit.
- Provide the group finance team a clear understanding and trajectory of the division.
- Provide robust challenge to the business during planning processes.
- Lead the capex process in close collaboration with operational teams.
- Support Diagnostics business plans as needed.
- Supporting further development of the SAP ecosystem alongside the IS team to improve speed and accuracy of reporting.
- In tandem with the wider FP&A team support data download, analysis and improvement of offline reporting tools.
- Work closely with the business to assist in the control and optimization of inventory levels working capital overall.
- Champion finance throughout the wider organisation.
- Deliver a high-quality finance provision leading to high levels of trust of finance within the business.
Key deliverables
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of key business planning deliverables.
- Provide accurate gross margin reporting to understand customer and product profitability and identify commercial opportunities.
- Drive focus on P&L efficiency and Cash Conversion rate.
- Financial reporting (monthly).
- Half-year forecast and Budget.
- Cashflow forecast (monthly).
Essential Candidate Requirements
- University degree in Business and/or Accounting.
- Professional accounting qualification (ie ACCA/CIMA).
- +5yrs working in a FP&A/Group environment.
- Understanding of working in a complex divisional structure international business.
- An understanding of manual ERP data mining.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills in a senior management environment.
- Day to day experience of SAP.
- Comfortable extracting and working with large data sets.
- Positive attitude, capable, energetic, analytical with a solid understanding of accounting.
- Fluent English speaking.
- Need to understand group business processes.
Desirable Candidate Requirements
- Power BI experience.
- Experience in a PE portfolio company.
- Knowledge in Pharmaceutical/ Bio-Tech/Medical Device.
This role is offered on a hybrid basis, working from our site in Compton, Berkshire - you will need your own transport to be able to get to our site.
