Full Stack Developer — Data Science Specialist (Internship to Permanent)

With over 25 years of experience in forensic genetic analysis, we founded Biosecure ID to tackle these challenges. Our mission is to enhance efficiency, ensure reliability and reproducibility, reduce overall costs, and develop simple to use integrated solutions for forensic analysis to make them accessible and affordable to labs worldwide. To fill gaps in the market, we partnered with Gentueri Inc for sample collection and workflow solutions, Innogenomics Inc for specialized forensic DNA sample processing, Paragon Genomics Inc for amplicon-based next-generation sequencing (NGS) panels, and with LabVine – an online learning and development platform with over 16,000 professionals registered globally with a view to promote their existing courses and to develop new content for Applied Genetics and Genomics Lab professionals. Our comprehensive services include training, consultancy, validation and verification, automation, and turnkey projects, with a particular focus on the Global South, where support is most needed.
In addition, Biosecure ID supports Science for Social Good CIC ( https://ssg-cic.org ), a UK-based non-profit company dedicated to advancing applied genetics through open-source software development (AGOSS® Platform), developing vocational training programmes in countries where knowledge gaps are most visible, raising awareness and education about DNA testing, standardizing sexual assault kits globally, and advocating for DNA as a biometric modality through the Future of Biometrics Consortium in collaboration with the Cambridge, UK-based Centre for Business Innovation (CfBI).

Biosecure ID Limited (BSID) is a forensic biotechnology company based at Alderley Park, Macclesfield, UK, working at the intersection of forensic genomics, molecular diagnostics, and open science. BSID is the commercial arm behind Science for Social Good CIC, the parent body of AGOSS (Applied Genomics Open-Source Software), our open-source bioinformatics community.
Biosecure ID Limited (BSID) is looking for one of its first employees: a Full Stack Developer to become our IT Lead. This is a builder's role at a genuine start-up — you'll set up and run our back-end technology stack, stand up MVPs with real deployment timelines, and act as the technical backbone for BSID and our open-source community, AGOSS (Applied Genomics Open-Source Software). You'll work directly with the founding team and external partners (Microsoft, ZOHO, AWS, and bioinformatics companies) to take ideas from concept to launch, fast.
Term: This role begins as a paid 3-month internship (pay details to be discussed, based on location). Successful completion leads to an offer of permanent employment. You would be one of BSID's first employees — a genuine founding role with the scope and responsibility that comes with it.
What You'll Do
- Act as BSID's Data Science Specialist — own our technology stack end to end, as employee #1
- Own AWS architecture — design, deploy, and launch MVPs for trial.
- Lead administration during early phase
- Work directly with external partners (Microsoft, ZOHO, Salesforce, Amazon (AWS), and third-party bioinformatics companies) to develop and launch new products, with fast turnaround and disciplined document control
- Manage and provide back-end support for our open-source community, AGOSS
- Apply data science and AI methods (R, R Shiny, and related platforms) to real product and research problems
- Administer and configure Microsoft Office and ZOHO (all apps), and act as development lead on the back end
- Document your work in detail as you go — decisions, architecture, and processes, not just code
