  • Contract: Permanent
  • Location: Hybrid working. Offices in Sustainable Ventures, Waterloo, Central London
  • Hours: 37.5 per week, but we currently work a 9-day fortnight, with no loss of pay.

Deadline: 9am Monday 16 November 2026

We’re agile sustainability experts who break daunting challenges into achievable, collaborative steps. We’ve amassed diverse and deep experience over three decades, working with organisations spanning more industries than we can count.

And as a social enterprise, we’re committed to maximising our impact. We also devote time and resources to influencing policy and industry practices. In other words: we really mean it.

We are one of the UK’s original sustainability consultancies. Founded in 1994, we have been winning awards and working with partners to create cutting‑edge solutions to sustainability for over 30 years.

How we do things:

Beyond compliance. We’re hugely ambitious and deeply committed to pursuing true sustainability at scale. Built environment pioneers since 1994 and co‑creators of the iconic BedZED eco‑village. We’re experts at making it good business to do good.

Enablers, not theorists. As creators of the One Planet Living® framework, we’re proven specialists at turning paralysis into progress. We work closely with clients to work out exactly where they are and what they need to do next.

Your role and impact

Bioregional’s award‑winning Sustainable Places team supports clients to develop innovative and practical solutions that enable them to embark on a transformational sustainability journey.

We are seeking a bright, well‑organised, practical and business‑friendly environmentalist to join a growing team of technical sustainability experts working with private and public‑sector organisations to develop and implement sustainability programmes. We have a growing portfolio of projects supporting local planning authorities with net‑zero carbon policy and are looking to increase our capacity in this area.

Your role will support evidence base work for Local Plans, including local carbon budget assessments and analysis of the carbon impacts of alternative spatial growth scenarios using our Net‑zero Spatial Planning Tool.

Your skills and experience

We know no one ticks every box, so if you’re excited by this role, we’d love to hear from you even if you don’t meet every single requirement.

What's in it for you?

1. Work-life balance: hybrid working from Europe's largest climate tech cluster in central London

2. Health and wellbeing: it's a core part of who we are. Oh - have we mentioned our 9-day fortnight?

3. Professional development budget: we want you to learn and progress as much as you do.

4. An ethical employer: we live our values in everything we do, from ethical pensions to sustainable lunches.

5. Diversity and inclusion: while others are rolling back, we're dialling up our ambitions

We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/gender expression, religion/belief, marital status, pregnancy stage, maternity/paternity status, or any other equality characteristic.

We foster a supportive, inclusive workplace where people can be themselves and achieve great things. We are committed to improving diversity and inclusion within our organisation – and we actively encourage applications from people of a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background. We want to grow our team with a wealth of diverse ideas, opinions and perspectives and want to hear from you if you believe you can contribute to this.

We can't wait to hear from you.
