As GSK continues to expand in Respiratory and Hepatology and deliver more innovative medicines to patients, we are committed to building a best-in-class, customer-facing medical organisation. Our Medical Science Liaison (MSL) teams play a critical role in connecting science, medicine, and external experts to improve outcomes for patients.

This role sits within the Global Medical Affairs Pipeline Execution team, a group accountable for enabling best-in-class clinical trial engagement through strategic site, patient and scientific engagement; a core part of this involves designing and operationalising the MSL Global deployment model. You will be a key driver in establishing the framework, governance, and performance metrics (KPIs) that will enable excellence and consistency across markets.

You’ll collaborate closely with Global, Regional, and Local Medical and R&D teams to ensure the design and roll-out of a globally aligned and locally executable approach. This role combines structured project management and strategic medical leadership. You will work across matrixed teams on strategic design and operational execution to achieve impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Framework Design: Contribute to the design and implementation of the global MSL framework, including deployment principles, governance model and success metrics.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with regional and market medical leads, R&D leaders, and HR/Capability teams to ensure alignment on MSL role scope, grading, and development pathways.
  • Governance & Execution: Be part of establishing the governance structures and processes to guide local implementation and enable tracking of programme performance.
  • Performance Metrics (KPIs): Help define and embed global KPIs to assess impact, capability, and consistency of MSL execution across markets.
  • Operational Excellence: Collaborate with enabling functions to ensure smooth delivery and efficient ongoing operations.
  • Strategic Outlook: Identify emerging opportunities and challenges in deployment and ways of working to inform future evolution of the global model.
  • Change Enablement: Support markets through transition planning, communication, and capability-building aligned with the new deployment framework.
  • Consistent & coordinated narrative: Work with Medical Director for Respiratory/Hepatology to ensure scientific narratives & key messages for site-facing/external engagement for trials is consistently deployed across all MA field teams.

Thinks globally, while deeply understands priority LOC (Local Operating Company) needs and success measures. This is accomplished through extensive partnership and collaboration with LOC teams to understand landscape, unmet medical needs and timelines for deliverables required for their success.

Basic Qualifications

  • MD/MBBS/PharmD or PhD in clinical/scientific discipline.
  • Considerable experience in Medical Affairs (global or regional level preferred) working as an MSL.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering cross-functional global initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial processes and the Medical Affairs role in supporting investigator engagement and enrolment.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects, budgets, and interactions simultaneously.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
  • Outstanding listening, communication & collaborative team working and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Respiratory or Hepatology experience preferred.
  • International or global role experience, or ability to show international thinking and have worked on projects across markets.
  • Experience with field medical excellence or MSL capability-building.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate insights into operational action.
  • Skilled in navigating complex matrix organisations and managing ambiguity, complexity and cultural diversity.
  • Robust understanding of internal and external codes of practice and regulations.
