The Sales Manager will be accountable for securing new packaging business across, although not limited to, the FMCG/retail, licensed, wholesale distribution and foodservice/QSR sectors. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Sales Manager will secure and support the delivery of the company’s net sales and net profit budgeted targets on an international scale. The Sales Manager will also ensure after-sales account management service to new clients and will be expected to grow sales turnover through maximizing packaging and labels portfolio sales outside of the UK and Ireland.
Key Accountabilities:
- Identify a new international customer target pipeline.
- Develop relationships with new targeted customer lists and develop these into profitable net sales business for the company.
- Key account management & joint business planning: updating the Board on customer activities and opportunities.
- Outreach activities (email & phone) with existing clients and new sales leads.
- Preparing & reviewing quotes and sales orders ensuring that these meet margin criteria (through CERM).
- Preparing sales plans and presenting sales reports to the Board.
- Preparing commercial arguments and presenting these in a professional manner to new and existing clients.
- Deliver agreed KPI targets through new business development.
- Supporting factory supply chain and planning teams with accurate customer forecasts.
- Managing and negotiating price increase discussions with clients.
- Attend customer visits (on/off site); travel will be required (both within and outside the UK and Ireland).
- Responding directly to customer queries, confidently and effectively resolving customer service issues.
- Host new and existing clients on factory site visits and meetings.
- Develop clear understanding of packaging and labels manufacturing processes.
- Ensure accuracy of all sales data for management reporting.
- Providing support cover for peers during Annual Leave or Absence.
- Ensuring Company policy, procedures and Health & Safety requirements are adhered to at all times.
Experience & Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5+ years proven experience within a sales/business development & key account management function, gained preferably within FMCG/retail, licensed, wholesale distribution and/or foodservice/QSR.
- Demonstrable experience of managing key national/international accounts.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering new business targets.
- People Management / Performance Management experience desirable.
- Must possess Maths & English GCSE standard qualifications.
- Educational qualifications demonstrating proficiency at A Level, or equivalent standard.
- Third/higher level (College/University) qualifications are desirable, but not essential.

- Adaptable to work cross-functionally across the team.
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to maintain long-standing relationships.
- Professional level of communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and sustain effective relationships with employees at all levels and external customers and suppliers.
- Competent numeracy and literacy skills.
- Competent IT Literacy, with proficiency in MS Office in particular Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to undertake travel when required.
- Commercially astute & highly confidential.
- Full clean driving license.
