The Role
We’re seeking a Grant Writer to lead BioOrbit’s grant strategy and expand our portfolio of research and innovation projects.
This isn’t just about writing funding applications, you’ll be shaping the partnerships and networks that underpin BioOrbit’s mission. From identifying high-value opportunities across the international grant landscape to building collaborations with academic institutions, industry leaders, and space agencies, you’ll be at the forefront of securing funding for groundbreaking science.

What You’ll Do
- Lead the grants pipeline: Monitor funding landscapes across national, EU, and international programmes to identify opportunities aligned with BioOrbit’s mission.
- Write winning applications: Develop compelling, compliant funding proposals that translate complex science into persuasive narratives.
- Build strategic partnerships: Forge and coordinate multi-partner consortia across academia, industry, and government agencies.
- Support internal teams: Work with scientists, engineers, and business leaders to turn research ambitions into competitive proposals.
- Manage the process: Oversee timelines, submissions, and funder reporting to keep projects on track.
- Represent BioOrbit externally: Attend events, workshops, and networking opportunities to expand our partnerships and funding reach.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
- Proven track record of successful grant writing in biotech, life sciences, or space tech
- Experience building and managing multi-partner, cross-border proposals
- Strong knowledge of key funding bodies (e.g., Innovate UK, Horizon Europe, ESA, NIH, NSF)
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- Project management and organisational expertise with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines
- PhD or advanced degree in a relevant field
- Familiarity with IP, legal, and contractual aspects of collaborative research grants
- Knowledge of commercialisation pathways and industry–academic partnerships
