Pennine Energy Group and BioMark are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and commercially minded recent graduate to join our team in Northallerton on a six-month full-time internship.
Pennine Energy Group is a growing energy business with activities spanning energy supply, trading, logistics, risk management and energy transition. The Group is focused on building long-term commercial relationships and playing a positive role in the transition towards a more decarbonised energy economy.
BioMark specialises in operating what are known as 'habitat banks'. We work with landowners to increase the biodiversity of their land by entering into a scheme known as Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). By managing the land according to a Habitat Management Plan, we are able to generate banks of tradable BNG units. The key to BioMark's success as a business is sales and marketing and we must continually ensure that when customers have a BNG requirement, BioMark is the first company that springs to mind.
General outline of the Job
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to gain broad business experience across energy and environmental services, sales, business development, finance and general commercial operations.
Working closely with the Directors of both businesses, you will provide day-to-day support across a wide range of activities. The role will suit someone who is proactive, confident communicating with people, highly organised and keen to learn how growing businesses operate. This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys variety and a fast-moving working environment.
This is a hands-on role, and no two days are likely to be the same. We are looking for someone who embraces variety rather than being overwhelmed by it, is naturally curious, and enjoys learning about different aspects of a business.
You don't need to know everything when you join us. What matters is that you are enthusiastic, adaptable, commercially curious and confident using technology and AI to work smarter.

Key Skills & Personal Qualities
We are looking for a recent graduate who is enthusiastic, adaptable and commercially minded, with the confidence to get involved in a wide variety of tasks.

- Commercial awareness – interested in understanding how businesses operate and how sales and customer relationships contribute to growth.
- Strong AI and digital skills – confident using AI tools to research, analyse information, improve productivity, generate ideas and support day-to-day business activities. A genuine interest in emerging AI technology and its practical application in business would be highly valued.
- Good numerical ability – comfortable working with figures, spreadsheets, quotations and basic financial information.
- Attention to detail – able to produce accurate work while working at pace.
