Leading M&E Service Provider in Ealing, West London is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to join their long-standing contract. This contract covers several facilities and buildings within the higher education sector across the West London region. The Mechanical Supervisor will oversee a team of eight engineers and will be responsible for all day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities, with a strong focus on planned preventative maintenance (PPM). The successful candidate will work closely with the on-site Electrical Supervisor to ensure smooth coordination of all M&E activities across the estate.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing reactive mechanical maintenance
- Attending client meetings
- Compiling reports
- Supervising staff
- Managing sub-contractors
This role is predominantly hands-off, with approximately 75% of the role being laptop-based, focused on supervision, planning, compliance, and reporting rather than tool-based duties. Hours are Monday to Friday - 08:00 to 17:00, with flexibility to adjust to 09:00 to 18:00 or 07:00 to 16:00 if required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all mechanical reactive and planned maintenance activities (PPM), ensuring delivery meets service level agreements and KPIs
- Monitor and update CAFM systems accurately, ensuring data integrity and performance tracking
- Lead audits and inspections of mechanical assets and compliance documentation, including condition surveys
- Manage small mechanical works and remedial tasks from identification through to completion
- Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, mechanical regulations, health & safety, and internal procedures
- Maintain current COSHH records, risk assessments, and site documentation
- Coordinate and supervise mechanical subcontractors, ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld
- Liaise with the client, internal teams, and stakeholders, attending meetings as required
- Support health & safety objectives by chairing or contributing to monthly site safety meetings
- Provide technical mechanical support and act as a point of escalation during emergency situations
- Oversee the grounds maintenance team
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota, ensuring continuity of mechanical services during evenings, weekends, and holidays
Applicant Requirements:
- Mechanically qualified to C&G / NVQ / HNC / HND level
- Strong background working with mechanical systems, plant, and critical environments
- Previous experience supervising engineering staff
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Strong compliance and health & safety understanding
- Experience within a commercial hard services FM environment
- Full UK driving licence
