Job Purpose

This position is an integral member of the Development Team and is responsible for designing, performing, and interpretation of experiments in support of Revvity product development workstream, specifically related to immunology and assay development.

This is a hands on role with 90% of the working time based in the lab.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Development Manager/scientists and junior scientists and is responsible for designing experiments that are conducted in line with overall product development strategy.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work with other departments specifically on development projects.

  • Required to be involved in training other members of the team.

  • Show initiative in project meetings and understanding for the development projects, including experiment design and project direction.

  • Able to generate data independently and justify decisions,

  • Supervise the day-to-day workloads of junior scientists within the team.

  • Act as an functional subject matter expert within a number of Revvity Projects. Produce and present reports to both the development team and wider Revvity.

Specific deliverables for the role

  • Be responsible for the design of experiments, conduct and record keep experiments, appropriately, ensuring that work is completed to agreed timelines.

  • Ensure that delays or issues with a given project are communicated appropriately in a timely manner.

  • Travel to internal and external sites at short notice to ensure project milestones are met.

  • Prioritise workload to ensure key objectives are met.

  • Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained and calibrated.

  • Perform duties in other departments, to meet critical Company objectives as required.

  • Supervise the work of new/junior members of the team as required.

  • Present data at internal and some external meetings as required.

  • Carry out projects in accordance with the Company’s Quality Management System and to the required Regulatory standards.

  • Ensure that conclusions written in experimental reports reflect the data presented and reports are of high quality.

  • Ensure that the Quality Management System, is adhered to at all times and in all aspects of the job.

  • Carry out literature reviews to a high standard.

  • Committed laboratory scientist, spending most of their working time in a lab environment.

Job Specification

Qualifications

Education:

  • A PhD Degree or Equivalent in Immunology, or at least 3-4 years relevant work experience.

Understanding of:

  • The diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries

  • Quality System concepts including GMP and ISO systems.

  • Assay development around immunological assays.

Experience

Proficiency in:

  • Experience in assay development specific to T Cell/Antibody technology.

  • Working knowledge on TCR function and applications.

  • Up to date knowledge/expertise on new advancements in immunology and in new advancements in immunological diagnostics.

  • Working experience of assay development (ELISA)

  • Identify innovative immunological technologies that will benefit our assay development processes

  • ELISPOT experience

  • Working knowledge of flow cytometry

  • Able to provide a critical assessment of data

  • Knowledge of cell activation

  • Knowledge of Windows and Office bases applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated product development experience, ideally whole life cycle.

Technical skills and abilities that would be advantageous

  • Cell isolation experience

  • Nano particle / magnetic bead experience

  • Fluorospot

  • Cell culture

  • Immunoassay development

Soft Skills

  • Ability to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment

  • Effective communication and collaboration within cross-functional teams

  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
