We specialise in control and disease-state biospecimens, including human and animal tissues, cell products, blood and other biofluids, aiming to improve patient outcomes by coupling comprehensive clinical data with donor samples.
The starting salary for this role is £26,000 / year plus benefits.
The role offers hybrid working with a minimum of 2 to 3 days at our Burgess Hill site.
Proposed start date: May 2026.

Role Summary
The Sourcing Specialist actively procures biospecimens to customer specifications and facilitates the wider organisation in providing the highest level of service.
Responsibilities include communication with other BioIVT units on the sourcing of non-standard enquiries alongside procurement from external sources and resolving any queries or need for clarification on more complex projects by discussion with the customer in collaboration with the Customer Experience and Sales teams.
Additionally, the Sourcing Specialist is responsible for managing and monitoring stock levels of inventory products in our European locations as part of cross‑functional initiatives together with offering strategic solutions for improvements within the role.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various departments and sites to ensure the full order-to-delivery life cycle is proactively and accurately managed;
- Responsible for the procurement of products from external suppliers to get estimates and supply of materials to fulfil orders;
- Proactively follow up with suppliers to answer technical, pricing and availability queries;
- Negotiate the best value for BioIVT with both customers and suppliers;
- Utilise X3 capabilities to implement MOQs & re‑order thresholds for stocked items;
- Work with laboratory personnel to organise reworks of material when required;
- Responsible for ensuring all Supplier information is up to date and work with Quality Assurance to ensure all suppliers are approved;
- Plan and prioritise work tasks to ensure efficient turnaround times including reviewing existing protocols and procedures and improve where necessary;
- Assist the Team Leader in monitoring team and vendor performance with metrics and KPIs;
- Ensure that customer and product information is entered accurately into the company’s IT databases and CRMs;
- Actively assist the Quality Assurance Team to report, record, investigate and take corrective action to ensure that the Company’s policies and procedures are implemented;
- Develop an extensive understanding of the company’s substantial products and services portfolio;
- Develop and maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships;
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education and/or Experience
- Qualification and/or demonstrable experience in sourcing or purchasing activities, preferably within the biopharmaceutical or medical industries;
- Bachelor’s degree in life science, biomedical science or procurement/supply chain preferred.
Other Skills And Abilities
- Proven track record of problem‑solving and time‑management abilities;
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally and as part of a team;
- Ability to communicate clearly concisely and effectively by phone or email;
- Ability to learn products and systems, and to adapt to changing business needs;
- Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs including MSOffice.
