We are recruiting for one of the UK’s leading logistics and freight companies that operate worldwide and offer a full range of services in the UK, across Europe and internationally across all trade routes.
We are seeking a skilled Import & Export Freight Operations Manager to join our client’s Ocean Freight team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operations team, including account management of a key account and providing elements of sales for the branch. You must have a strong background in freight forwarding operations, experience dealing with LCL & FCL ocean freight imports and exports, and proven experience managing a team.

Your key responsibilities as a Freight Operations Manager
Overseeing a team of 10 operational staff
Manage and coordinate all aspects of key accounts
Serve as the primary contact for key accounts
Ensure Compliance with international regulations and documentation
Identify ways to expand business, by upselling, cross-selling and introducing new services and provide an element of sales leads
Carrier Management – negotiate freight rates, quotes and pricing solutions for customers
Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines and various carriers
Implement KPI’s and performance metrics
Driver Process Improvements To Streamline OperationsRequirements
Key account management experience ESSENTIAL
You must have experience working for a UK Freight Forwarder
Experience managing a team of people
It is essential that you can quote and negotiate with overseas agents
The ability to put together consols based on various LCL bookings
In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs and INCO terms
Proven experience in managing relationships with ocean carriers
Extensive knowledge of ocean import processes with strong LCL & FCL
