Role Purpose
To drive uptake, market access, and commercial success of Biocon Biologics’ biosimilar portfolio across North England, North Wales, and Scotland by building strong relationships with NHS stakeholders, securing formulary access, and delivering strategic account plans aligned to regional priorities and national policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Account Leadership
- Develop and execute integrated account plans for ICSs, Health Boards, and major hospital trusts across the region.
- Map decision makers, influencers, and prescribing dynamics across primary and secondary care.
- Identify opportunities for switch programmes, pathway optimisation, and cost saving initiatives.
- Market Access & Formulary
- Lead formulary submissions and evidence discussions with MOCs, APCs, Health Boards, and Medicines Management Teams.
- Secure and maintain formulary inclusion for Biocon’s biosimilars across the region.
- Provide robust clinical, economic, and real world evidence to support decision-making.
- NHS Stakeholder Engagement
- Build trusted, compliant relationships with:
- ICS/ICB Medicines Optimisation Leads
- Hospital Pharmacy & Procurement
- Clinical Directors & Consultants
- Health Board Medicines Management Teams (Wales & Scotland)
- Commercial Delivery
- Achieve regional sales, uptake, and market share targets.
- Lead tender awareness and support procurement teams with pricing, supply, and contract information.
- Monitor competitor activity and local policy changes to anticipate risks and opportunities.
- Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing, Medical, Market Access, and Commercial Leads to ensure aligned execution.
- Feed regional insights into national strategy, brand planning, and forecasting.
- Support educational initiatives, advisory boards, and pathway projects.
- Governance & Compliance
- Ensure all activities comply with the ABPI Code, internal SOPs, and NHS engagement rules.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, account plans, and activity reporting.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Strong experience in pharmaceutical Key Account Management or Market Access.
- Proven success engaging with ICSs, Health Boards, MOCs/APCs, procurement, and clinical stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of NHS structures, biosimilar adoption, and medicines optimisation.
- Ability to interpret and present clinical, economic, and real world evidence.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship building skills.
- Strong strategic planning and business acumen.
Desirable
- Experience in biosimilars, biologics, or specialty medicines.
- Knowledge of tendering, contracting, and procurement processes.
- Understanding of Scottish and Welsh medicines policy frameworks (SMC, AWMSG).
- Degree in life sciences, pharmacy, business, or related field.
