Biocomposites products are now used in over 120,000 procedures every year and sold in more than 40 countries around the world.

The Operations Excellence role is responsible for driving continuous improvement, efficiency, and performance optimisation across the organisation. The role focuses on embedding our operating principles, building operating systems and developing our lean tool kit. Through this approach this role will facilitate teams to focus on customer value, remove waste and improve manufacturing flow. Core to this role is the experience and capability in operational transformation programs across the breadth of manufacturing, engineering, supply chain and quality. Leading through humility and respect for all, this role ensures alignment of people, processes, systems, and behaviours to create a high-performance, continuously improving organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Continuous Improvement Leadership
    • Translate strategic goals into practical, measurable improvement plans
    • Lead and implement continuous improvement and system development for operations
    • Create, educate and facilitate teams' ability to see waste through collaborative tool kit development and deployment
    • Drive manufacturing flow through system thinking
    • Build and manage a clear value creation pipeline
    • Track ROI and ensure initiatives translate into financial outcomes
    • Facilitate improvement workshops grounded in process and system flow improvement
  • Process Optimisation
    • Analyse current processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks and waste
    • Design and implement streamlined, standardised processes
    • Develop and maintain process documentation and SOP's
    • Ensure best practices are shared across the organisation
  • Culture & Leadership
    • Drive a high-performance culture aligned with continuous improvement principles
    • Build coaching and leadership capability across functions
    • Embed strong behaviours, accountability, problem solving, purpose
    • Define and track KPIs and operational metrics
    • Establish performance dashboards and reporting frameworks
    • Drive accountability for operational results
    • Develop and track improvements sustainability
  • Change Management
    • Lead cultural transformation toward a continuous improvement mindset fostering true collaboration along the journey
    • Coach and engage stakeholders at all levels
    • Embed sustainable change practices within teams
  • Data-Driven Decision Making
    • Use data analysis tools to identify trends and root causes
    • Develop and apply standardised problem-solving techniques/tools (e.g., DMAIC, 5 Whys, A3, etc)
    • Ensure decisions are evidence-based and measurable
  • Capability Building
    • Develop internal CI capability and talent pipelines
    • Train and mentor teams in Lean and continuous improvement techniques
    • Support leadership in Operational Excellence maturity development
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Drive end-to-end value chain optimisation
    • Align initiatives as part of and with the operations SLT (senior leadership team)
    • Partner with Executive Leadership to align Operational Excellence initiatives with strategy

Person Specification

  • Level 6 degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or similar
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in continuous improvement or operational excellence roles
  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or service operations
  • Leadership capability to drive cultural change
  • Background in leading teams through transformation
  • Track record of delivering measurable business improvements
  • Strong knowledge of Lean and CI methodologies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Facilitation and coaching skills
  • Strategic thinking with execution focus
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing ability
