Job Summary
The contract manufacturing manager will be part of the Research and Development team and will support strategic product development projects being undertaken at Biocomposites.
The contract manufacturing manager will be responsible for selecting, evaluating, and managing vendor partnerships to achieve business objectives effectively. The role includes building relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring the processes and management of component and finished product supply from purchasing to delivery are developed and managed efficiently, on time and in a cost-effective manner.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for identifying and managing contractors for R&D projects and pre-launch external manufacturing requirements.
  • Working with external manufacturers, internal operations and supply chain, the role will be responsible for the successful transfer of contract manufactured elements from development to commercial supply chain.
  • Effective management of the upstream and downstream contract manufacturers.
  • Planning and delivery of all contract manufacturing runs including clinical trial supplies.
  • Lead external manufacturing sourcing initiatives to ensure on time development of products and supply and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify, assess, and onboard external manufacturing partners.
  • Manage supplier negotiations and agreements, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Lead and support sourcing-related projects, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of contract risk and opportunity plans/budgets.
  • Use project management skills and team working deliver strategic priority projects to defined timelines.
  • In conjunction with the group operations director, optimise inventory, production planning and logistics networks to ensure the supply chain aligns with business goals.
  • Ensure all aspects of contract supply chain meet all medical device and pharmaceutical quality and compliance requirements, from conception through to commercial launch.
Essential Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Degree educated in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience working in a external manufacturing sourcing, supplier management, or procurement.
  • Previous experience of managing manufacturing in a medical device and/or pharmaceutical business.
  • The ability to collect and interpret data, essential for making informed decisions and optimizing supply chain performance
  • Project management experience
  • Demonstrable people and team management experience.
  • Able to Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manage supplier performance.
  • Adept at identifying challenges and finding effective solutions to ensure smooth operations
  • Track record of effective management of suppliers.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills so as to be able to effectively convey messages across to both team members and other external persons including vendors and external consultants.
  • Good problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills are highly required.
